We are your local CEREC dentist for single-visit tooth restorations. Why go to the dentist a second time if you don't have to?
CEREC is a technology used for restoring damaged teeth, and this restoration can be completed in a single visit to the dentist's office. It makes your teeth stronger and more beautiful, all while keeping your teeth looking natural. The restoration is metal-free, and the high-grade ceramic material is compatible with the natural tissue found in your mouth.
During your appointment, you and your doctor will discuss the details of the procedure, and your doctor will answer any questions you may have. Your doctor will then apply a thin layer of reflective powder onto your tooth and will use a special 3-D imaging camera to take a photo of your tooth. Using CEREC's proprietary software, your restoration will be designed according to your tooth's appropriate form and function. Then, CEREC will use diamond burs to create your restoration out of a piece of ceramic. Finally, the ceramic restoration is bonded to your tooth using state-of-the-art adhesive dentistry.
There are many advantages of using CEREC over traditional crown technology.
Our digital X-rays are a useful diagnostic tool when helping detect damage and disease not visible during a regular dental exam.
How often X-rays should be taken depends on your present oral health, your age, your risk for disease, and any signs and symptoms of oral disease. For example, children may require X-rays more often than adults because their teeth and jaws are still developing and their teeth are more likely to be affected by tooth decay than those of adults.
Your dentist will review your history, determine your risk factors and then decide whether or not you need X-rays.
If you are a new patient, we may recommend X-rays to determine the present status of your oral health and have a baseline to help identify changes that may occur later. A new set of X-rays may be needed to help us detect any new cavities, determine the status of your gum health or evaluate the growth and development of your teeth.
At Digital Dentistry of Yorba Linda, we use the latest digital X-ray technology which is safer for you and your family. It produces only a minuscule amount of radiation compared to traditional X-rays. Plus, the results are more accurate, allowing us to identify any issues earlier.
If you are pregnant, tell your dentist. During your pregnancy, we try to avoid X-rays; however, in an emergency situation, you may need to have X-rays taken. Use of the leaded apron and thyroid collar will protect you and your fetus from radiation exposure.
Dental X-rays do not need to be delayed if you are trying to become pregnant or are breastfeeding.
